Exporting all captions
I have created a Storyline360 file, and each slide has its own audio and closed captioning created within Articulate. I can export the closed captions for individuals slides but can I export all captions for the whole file?
Also when I publish to video the captions don't appear to come with it, and I then need to attach a caption file?
I am VERY new to this, and hope some can help.

@Thor,
The reason is quite similar to editha ; I implement a first version of my training modules with the speech synthesis included in SL360, then my customer makes the voices recorded by a professional studio, and I reimport them. So for the studio, we need to provide a file where the voice-over are precisely written, screen by screen. We create manually an Excel file (based on the Word export), which is quite fastidious.

@Laurent and @editha,
I may have a solution that would meet both of your needs. If you're interested, please reply privately to me or via LinkedIn (which tends to work better as sometimes private messages aren't delivered.)

Hello Thor,
Why privately ? This should stay a public discussion ;o)

Speaking for myself: as I work for translation companies I need to extract captions, videos and images for translation, and then import them again in translated file (and for that export/import via xliff is great). Import audio and subtitle files one by one is very very time consuming.

Hello!
I have the same request: will we have soon the ability to export all the captions in one single file? (ideally separated by screen numbers) Thanks in advance

@Laurent,
Just curious, what would be the purpose of exporting all captions into one file and then indicating which slides (screen numbers) they come from?

Hello, after 3 years from the first request I still ask to export / import all srt (but also mp3 and images) at one time: something like links to update.
Opening the file story as a zip I can see all the objects, but they use weird different names and it seems that the software changes those names: if only it would possible to keep the original file name so to change them directly in the zip file!

Please add my vote for this feature as well.

Hi, I would also love to see this feature to export all closed captions for the entire project as it would save tons of time for localization. Please add my vote as well.
Hi Stephanie and wasim,
Thanks so much for sharing what you'd like to see in Storyline 360. I've added your voices to the existing report. We’ll update this discussion in the future with any news so that you are in the loop!
Hope that you both have a great start to Monday!

I'd like to help clarify that there are two distinct feature requests that have become intertwined in this thread:
- The ability to bulk export VTT files (similar to how we can currently select and export multiple images from the Media Library in one click)
[Bulk example: a 30 slide Storyline with one vtt per slide would export 30 vtt files] - The ability to export all captions combined into a single document/script
[Onefile example: a 30 slide Storyline with one vtt per slide would export one document containing all 30 vtt file information]
While both features would be valuable, the bulk VTT export functionality seems like it could be implemented relatively quickly since the framework already exists in Storyline for bulk media exports. The single-document export would require additional development for merging and formatting the captions.
Could these be considered as separate feature requests? This would allow the simpler bulk VTT export feature to potentially move forward without being held up by the more complex single-document development.

My solution handles both situations:
- Export all captions as individual VTT files.
- Export all captions, combine into one file, and remove time stamps so you have an audio script.
And though it's not outlined here in the feature request, I also import back the individual VTT files - no need to go slide-by-slide.

Thank you team for the great work...
Please add my vote too to include this crucial feature of exporting the closed captions for the whole project in one file, as this will allow us to easily translate to different languages.

Thank you, Steven! I see that exporting captions into a single file has been a long requested feature. When can we see this added to the product roadmap?
Hello Crystal!
I'm happy to chime in! Though I cannot give a timeline because of factors like complexity, breadth, and engineering's current workload, we can commit to keeping this post open so we can let you know if the feature is available. You will be among the first to know!
Hi Naomi & Crystal!
Thanks for sharing the feedback on the type of functionality you'd like to see in Storyline!
I've included both of you in the feature report being tracked so you can be notified as soon as we have updates to share!
