File Types

I see that Rise has a maximum side of 5GB for audio and video files. I also see videos are best in 16:9 aspect ratio. I'm seeking information in a couple areas:

1. Please list all of the file types that can be used in Rise for Audio, Video, and Images.

2. Embed: Is it possible to embed image on any screen other than "embed" selection in blocks?

Thank you!

Just tried to attach a Jupyter Notebook (ipynb file attached).

Rise 360 reports uploading attachment, but no further action. I just had to cancel.

Have you encountered problems with this file type?

    Thanks. Daniel.

P.S. I zipped the file, and that worked.

  • Sorry for the trouble, Daniel. I'm seeing the same problem. I'll let our team know this type of file isn't uploading to the attachment block.

Hopefully zipping the file before attaching it will work in the meantime!

      Hi Alyssa,

Thanks so much. Using the zip is fine. I only informed you because when
I went to check on permissible file formats, it seemed there were no
limits, and to let you know if we encounter a counter-example.

      Regards. Daniel.

  • .avi doesn't seem to be supported for video upload. Maybe a list of supported file types wouldn't be so bad after all? It would've saved me some rendering time...

  • You're right, Anna. RIse 360 doesn't accept AVI files in a video block. Hopefully you were able to convert the file to MP4 or another supported video file type before uploading. I'll be sure our team sees this!

Has anyone tried to enter a KPL file type into the system yet?  I'm looking to add some detailed maps and geography exercises into my lesson in Rise 360 and I wasn't sure what to/how I would go about doing that.  I would be importing them from Google Earth Pro.

      Hi Chad,

I'm unfamiliar with this Google Earth file type, but I saw this post from Jake Sparling about displaying Google Earth maps on websites.

It involves importing the Google Earth file into Google Maps and then using its share option to create an embed code.  You should then be able to use the Embed block in Rise 360 to add this map to your course.

Try it out and see if it helps!

  • I need to create an interactive diagram with some animation in in for input to Storyline.
Is it best to create the animated items and then do the interactivity straight in Storyline or can it be created in XD and exported to Storyline?
