Formatting slide Notes all at once

Is there a way to set the Notes formatting for all slides at once (vs. having to format each slide's Notes one at a time)? The Format Painter is apparently disabled for Notes (how can this be?), and the Text Style control doesn't appear to let me create a style with font size, color, and line spacing to a new style I created. Thanks in advance.

  • I'm having a similar issue with Notes formatting; only in my case, the notes are not wrapping properly and are being cut off at the right side of the side pane.  I have been searching the forums but not found anything that specifically addresses this issue.

      Hi MaryBethMaid674

Thanks for reaching out! I tested this on my end and am unable to replicate this behavior.

      • What font are you using for your Notes?
      • Where are you experiencing this behavior? I'm curious if this is while editing, in Review 360, or a published output
      • Is this happening with any other courses you're working on, or just this one?

I'm curious if you experience this behavior if you import your slides into a brand new .story file.

I'd be happy to look at your file to gain a better understanding of your setup. You can share your .story file in this thread or privately in a support case

Looking forward to hearing from you!

We are using Ariel 12 for the font.
Experiencing this after publishing in Review 360... seems limited to just one slide.
        I've had it happen before...

I copied the slide over to a new file so I could upload it to Support...
and wiped out the Notes text, and repasted.
That seems to have resolved the problem.
I have no idea what caused it in the first place...
Here's an image of what was going on

  • So important!  It can be a critical element for accessible design.  It is used to create learner guides as well, since text is treated as images in the export files.  I eagerly await the update to Storyline.  Thank you!

  • Hi Kris,

Thanks for checking in on this! This feature hasn't been added as we are prioritizing other features at the moment. A request has already been submitted for this feature and this conversation is being linked to that request, so if it makes it onto our feature roadmap, we’ll make sure to update you!

Sounds great, thank you! I'll be on the lookout for any updates in future.

  • Hi there - just checking in to see if there's been any updates to this? It takes an enormous amount of time to format each individual Notes section on a slide, especially if you make any changes to one and have to go back and re-do all the others. Is there any workaround for this, or a better process than manually formatting styles on the notes for each individual slide?

Edit to add: It's not possible to use the Format Painter on Notes, is that correct?

  • Hi, Phillip.

The Notes are treated as a separate element for each slide. While not currently a feature in Storyline, we have a request logged for a global notes formatting option.

I will update this discussion if I have any news to share or if this request makes it to our feature roadmap.
