How do you disclose use of AI in your courses?

My team is very excited about the forthcoming Articulate AI features and is thinking about how to disclose to our users (mostly external customers) our use of GenAI tools. How are others handling this?

  • Hi everyone,

I have a similar question and couldn`t find a helpful answer yet. Citing AI generate images as such is one thing. But how do you be transparent about the use of AI in other blocks or for example when generating quiz questions?

We have an AI Policy in our company which states that we want to be transparent about the use of AI. This includes information the learner of an Rise e-learning that AI was used in the creation of this content.

I would be curious to find out how others handle this citation topic.

We've added a new generic line about AI in our general disclaimer/T&Cs, although its doubtful anyone ever reads the small print.

After a project is completed I log all images and make a note of the AI generated ones. I'm not sure its necessary to highlight quiz questions as being AI generated as they should be proofed by content experts before release.

How are you intending to inform the users, add a small AI type icon to each affected screen / add a short line of text? Would it need to work differently for Storyline/Rise courses? How would it work for a Rise cover image? or an AI manipulated paragraph of text?

  • Thanks, Karl. We're early enough in our use of GenAI tools (especially in instructional design) that we haven't yet established the guidance--that's essentially what this would be. My thinking is transparency is the best policy, but was curious how others haven chosen to demonstrate that.

    Hi Sarah,

Your organizational AI Policy and Best practices document should contain some guidance regarding to what extent you need to inform your users that AI was used to create your education and training resources.
