How finely can timeline objects be moved?

I've noticed that on some slides I can move items to a finer degree than on other slides. What controls this?

I have two sets of graphic elements needing a similar treatment. In the first, I got it the way I want. I copied and pasted those elements to build the second, but had to align their start positions in the timeline to overcome a different timeline issue; now I can't adjust them as finely as I need to.

Is there a setting or key command that will allow finer adjustment?

I may be looking at re-tracing my steps, but thought I'd check with the experts first.

Thank you!

  • Hi JohnJohnson-6a8! In the bottom-left corner of the timeline pane are zoom in/out controls:

You can use either the single and double triangles or the little slider to adjust the timeline increments. Then, you drag the elements on the timeline as you normally would. Hope this helps!

      thank you, rachelatkaiser

That was it!  Important lesson, that little slider doesn't adjust only the magnification to the eye; it also controls how finely you can move items on the timeline!

This turned my whole day around for the better..thank you!
