How to import PPT slides that have shapes with editable text?

When I import ppt slides that have editable text within shapes, the results is a non-editable "picture" of each shape in Storyline 360. I need to be able to edit the text in Storyline as this will have multiple version in different languages. In PPT the content was originally "Smart Art" that I "converted to shapes" that maintained the editable text, then I imported the slides to create a new project in Storyline 360. Is there a way to import and still have editable text in the shapes?

    I should mention that I ungrouped the shapes after converting, prior to importing.
