Is there an easier way to make xAPI reports readable?
Hi! We have a client who is migrating to xAPI reporting. We're adding triggers to report quiz question responses to their LMS. See below. We can go into the xAPI markup screen and change the "description name" to something they would recognize so that it isn't a random string of letters and numbers. But, two questions.
Is that necessary?
Or is there some conversation that happens between their LMS (Absorb) and the Storyline file where they will see something they recognize (either the object name in the timeline or the text within it) when they look at the Answered details in the report?
If the answer is that it is necessary, is there an easier way to do that other than changing the markup on every trigger, for every answer option, on every question for each of the six languages the course is built in?
Thank you!
Meredith

Thank you! Robert wasn't able to offer a solution or answer to this definitively and mentioned that, hopefully, someone here could. So, if we could leave this conversation open, that would be great...since I'm still looking for some expertise.

Thank you for responding. We have tested in SCORMCloud and we are getting responses. The issue is that unless we go into the xAPI statement and manually change all of the descriptions to include the actual response, we simply get a report with those randomly assigned values that we then have to look into the detailed version to map it to. (See image-- "with response 'choice_XXXXX'" rather than "with response choice 'B'"). What we're trying to figure out is if there's an easier way to get that recognizable answer without having to manually code every xAPI statement based on the answer choice option.
Hi MeredithSing253!
Glad to see Joe has been helping you!
I noticed that you've also been working with my colleague Robert, through a support case. It looks like he just replied to your e-mail, sharing additional insight into this behavior.
We can continue the conversation through your case to keep all information in one spot.
Hi MeredithSing253,
Happy to help!
Storyline 360 sends an interaction response by default for courses published in xAPI. This article lists all the quiz data Storyline 360 sends to an LMS for courses published using xAPI. You'll want to ensure you've correctly set your course to support xAPI to allow seamless interaction between Storyline 360 and your LMS.
If you've properly implemented xAPI to support Articulate content, test your course in SCORM Cloud to see what type of quiz responses you'll get in the reporting section. If you don't notice any differences in the responses in SCORM Cloud, please share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case for testing. We'll delete it when we're done!
