Issue with Bold Italic Font not retaining on export in Storyline

Dear all !

I hope you're well.
I'm currently working on a project in Articulate Storyline, and I've noticed that the bold italic formatting of my font does not remain after exporting the course (HTML5/SCORM). The text appears correctly inside the authoring tool, but once exported, the formatting seems to be lost.

Inside the authoring tool :

After the export :

Could you please let me know why this is happening and if there's a way to ensure the bold italic style is preserved in the exported version?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Best regards,

  • Hi SafeTeamAcademy!

Glad to see Kate has been assisting you!

It would be helpful to know which specific font you are working with. Is it one of Storyline's built-in fonts, or a custom one you have added? If it's a custom font, can you confirm which instance of the font package you're using? Authors can choose between Variable and Static fonts, however, not all Variable fonts are supported by Storyline 360. While these fonts may appear to function when authoring within Storyline, they will not render properly once published.

In the screenshot below, I've used a custom font (Overpass) as an example of the two available options, when extracting a new custom font package.

If you were using the Variable instance, I suggest uninstalling it from your machine and then installing the Static version. After that, please relaunch Storyline 360, so the new fonts are updated.

Let me know how it goes!

      Hi StevenBenassi!

Thanks for the guidance! I’m using the Raleway font, and I did switch to the Static instance as you suggested. After reinstalling the Static version and relaunching Storyline 360, the bold italic styling is now correctly preserved in the HTML5/SCORM export.

Everything’s working perfectly—thank you for your help!

      Best regards,

        Hi SafeTeamAcademy!

You're welcome. Thanks for following up!

Great to hear switching to the Static version of Raleway fixed the issue! If you run into any setbacks moving forward, please let us know.

Have a great rest of your week!

Hello - I have found a simliar issue - and it seems to depend on the type of font you are using. For example, in a text entry field, roboto italics are not maintained in a export! no help sorry!
