Major Storyline Audio Playback Issues
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share that we’ve just released a new update for Storyline 360 (Build 3.116) that includes improvements related to this audio issue.
If you haven’t already, it would be helpful to update to the latest version, republish your course, and test again to see if the behavior improves in your environment.
If the issue persists after updating, feel free to reach out through a support case or continue working with our team if you already have one open so we can take a closer look at what’s happening on your end.

Hello! Just popping in to say that I have the updates installed and I've republished, but I'm still getting the same feedback about my audio being missing / incorrect, but not consistently. My team are looking at the same published version and one is experiencing the audio issues whilst two others are not.

Hi Eric,
Thank you for the update.
We have updated to the latest Storyline 360 version, republished the course, and tested again. Unfortunately, the issue still persists in our environment.
We are still seeing intermittent audio problems, especially when revisiting slides or going through the course a second time. In some cases, the audio does not play, and scrubbing the timeline can make the audio come back.
When the issue occurs, we still see console errors related to MP3 files, for example:
GET .../story_content/[audio-file].mp3 net::ERR_CACHE_OPERATION_NOT_SUPPORTED
followed by:
AudioClipBase::constructor - could not load ".../story_content/[audio-file].mp3"
I have attached a screenshot showing the issue occurring in SCORM Cloud after republishing with the latest version.
One important finding from our side: when we changed the cache handling for MP3 files in our own LMS, the issue could no longer be reproduced there. This seems to suggest that the issue may be related to how Storyline’s published output interacts with browser/media caching when revisiting slides. However, many of our clients run the courses in their own LMS environments, where we cannot control server headers or cache behavior.
We have already submitted this through a support case and have also sent several follow-up emails with additional information, but we have not yet received a response by email. Since this is becoming quite urgent for us, we would really appreciate it if someone from Articulate could get back to us by email as soon as possible.

Hi all. Updated to 3.116 and republished the course. It's a similar situation to JessLock. On my first test, the module failed to play some audio tracks (despite using triggers to play media). Backing up and reloading a screen fixed the issue. Second time through - audio played without issues. So it seems the random element is still there. FYI: Course was tested on our live LMS.😕

I've updated to the latest Storyline build (3.116) and the issue still persists. The only thing that seems to work is opening in a private window or Incognito mode, which isn't realistic. This is incredibly frustrating. When I opened a support ticket, they told me they couldn't recreate the issue.

I totally understand your frustration regarding your experience with audio playback. We appreciate you sharing that this is still happening in the latest version of Storyline 360. I've made sure to add your insight so that our team is aware as we continue to gather more information about this behavior.
We'll be sure to share any future updates in this thread, so all are in the loop!
