Major Storyline Audio Playback Issues
I have recently been receiving a lot of feedback from my course testers that there have been issues with audio not playing, audio only partly playing, incorrect audio playing or layer audio overlapping when they visit the slide initially, however when they return to the slide the audio works as designed.
Even weirder, two people may be testing the exact same package and will experience completely different audio glitches and some testers experience no glitches at all.
These tests have been done on both Review360 and in SCORM 1.2 and 2004 on our LMS. It has been tested in both Edge and Chrome. There are no issues with the timeline and the audio is not attached to any triggers. I've been using Storyline for around a decade now and have never encountered an issue like this.
From looking at the forums here it seems that a number of people are having similar issues, with no solutions provided or any update/explanations as to why this may be occurring.
This is incredibly frustrating, as it means nothing can get past quality control and be provided to clients.
Has anyone experienced this and found a fix?

I installed the new version, re-published to Review and it worked without any audio issues. I'll upload to the LMS tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Hello,
While the sound issues might have been corrected, now videos don't play on iPhone devices (I have iPhone 13).https://360.articulate.com/review/content/321f60f7-24c7-4568-bbf5-8b6d307f493f/review
it doesn't load, neither on review or on my lms.

Hello,
Can we get a short note about what was causing a problem, how to replicate it and how was it solved? So I can test, before releasing, because as multiply stated in this thread - this issue is totally random. I personally experienced it only once, while I got like 20 reports about it from my Reviewers. It's not easily replicable, so it would be great to have an opportunity to actually CHECK if everything works.- ValQuimno-94bc8Community Member
Hello,
I can confirm that Update 118 solved the issue for us. We just have to republish to a new scorm and upload it in the LMS.
Thanks

I just tested the new release (May 27, 2026 (Build 3.118.37003.0) for 2 of my audio issues. Neither issue is solved.
My issues are with multilanguage files. The timelines of english are getting extended to the length of the spanish audio tracks upon publish
AND the spanish audio playback is overlapping even though it is obviously not on the timelineHi lorraineS,
Sorry to hear that you're struggling with audio playback issue from a Localized Storyline file.
I see that my colleague Genelyn has been helping you in a support case. As she shared, we have this behavior logged as a bug in Storyline Localization. This bug causes:
- The source language Text-to-Speech audio Timeline to change, after publishing a multi-language project to LMS
We've included you in the bug report, so we can update you as soon as a fix is in place. I'm sorry if this has been slowing you down!

Adding on. I'm also having audio issues. Particularly I work with multi language files and the audio is not obeying the timeline at all in non-english languages. Very frustrating. I'm on version
May 12, 2026 (Build 3.117.36909.0), testing in SCORM cloud a scorm 1.2 published multi language package

Hello,
we are also experiencing this issue, both on Review and on LMS.
I have up to date Storyline.
Have you identified the issue and knows how to fix that?
While it's just a minor issue when someone cannot hear the voiceover or the wrong one plays, I have courses that relies on the audio completion to unlock progression. If the audio doesn't play, the course will get stuck. I cannot afford such a scenario. That's a critical issue.- ValQuimno-94bc8Community Member
Hi MateuszSzuter-e , i haven't found a solution yet. Still waiting for Articulate support's reply to my ticket.
Yes, we did the same test. Our storyline is updated repackaged a new scorm and uploaded in the LMS, but still no audio. Within storyline and review, it's fine the audio works as expected.
It's a critical issue to us as well.

We have received reports from users experiencing the same audio playback issue in our Storyline courses hosted in Moodle Workplace. This is the first time we have encountered this type of issue.
We have reviewed the original Storyline source file and can confirm that the audio plays correctly within Storyline. However, the audio does not play once the course is uploaded and accessed through the LMS.
Any update on this? - amytaylor24Community Member
We are having the exact same issues. We use the AI Text to Speech and have some users not getting audio and some are fine. I've entered support cases, but have just been told it's a browser issue.

Yeah, I'm going to pile on here since I just experienced it going through a QA with a client on Storyline Review. I use Chrome. Any progress on a fix? This is incredibly frustrating.
Hi JessLock, JonasGretzer, PaulBrennan-5fe, and painthrsfan1,
Thank you all for taking the time to test again after updating to Storyline 360 Build 3.116 and for continuing to share your findings here.
The additional details you’ve shared around revisiting slides, inconsistent playback between users, LMS differences, console errors, caching behavior, and Review 360 symptoms are all really helpful as our team continues looking into the issue and gathering more information.
JonasGretzer, thank you as well for continuing to share updates through your support case. I also checked and saw that Georvy sent a response by email on May 4. If you haven’t seen it yet, it may be worth checking your spam or junk folder. If it’s not there either, please let me know and I’d be happy to help further.
painthrsfan1, at the moment we don’t have a specific recommended browser or browser setting to share for this behavior, since the issue appears to affect users inconsistently across environments. Could you also share which browser and browser version your reviewers are using when they encounter these issues? Additionally, does testing in a different updated browser change the behavior at all?
We’re continuing to actively track reports like these, and we’ll share updates here as soon as we know more.

Hello, I am adding to the audio playback issues. I am on the most recent update (Storyline). I am also getting multiple complaints about the review tool. Latency, missing audio, blank screens, etc. While I personally do not experience this, the reviewers are frustrated as am I listening to all their feedback. Are there settings, or a specific browser they should be using? Why is it so random on who it selects to not work properly...any tips you can offer would be most appreciated!
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share that we’ve just released a new update for Storyline 360 (Build 3.116) that includes improvements related to this audio issue.
If you haven’t already, it would be helpful to update to the latest version, republish your course, and test again to see if the behavior improves in your environment.
If the issue persists after updating, feel free to reach out through a support case or continue working with our team if you already have one open so we can take a closer look at what’s happening on your end.

I've updated to the latest Storyline build (3.116) and the issue still persists. The only thing that seems to work is opening in a private window or Incognito mode, which isn't realistic. This is incredibly frustrating. When I opened a support ticket, they told me they couldn't recreate the issue.
Hello PGallup,
I totally understand your frustration regarding your experience with audio playback. We appreciate you sharing that this is still happening in the latest version of Storyline 360. I've made sure to add your insight so that our team is aware as we continue to gather more information about this behavior.
We'll be sure to share any future updates in this thread, so all are in the loop!

Hi all. Updated to 3.116 and republished the course. It's a similar situation to JessLock. On my first test, the module failed to play some audio tracks (despite using triggers to play media). Backing up and reloading a screen fixed the issue. Second time through - audio played without issues. So it seems the random element is still there. FYI: Course was tested on our live LMS.😕

Hi Eric,
Thank you for the update.
We have updated to the latest Storyline 360 version, republished the course, and tested again. Unfortunately, the issue still persists in our environment.
We are still seeing intermittent audio problems, especially when revisiting slides or going through the course a second time. In some cases, the audio does not play, and scrubbing the timeline can make the audio come back.
When the issue occurs, we still see console errors related to MP3 files, for example:
GET .../story_content/[audio-file].mp3 net::ERR_CACHE_OPERATION_NOT_SUPPORTED
followed by:
AudioClipBase::constructor - could not load ".../story_content/[audio-file].mp3"
I have attached a screenshot showing the issue occurring in SCORM Cloud after republishing with the latest version.
One important finding from our side: when we changed the cache handling for MP3 files in our own LMS, the issue could no longer be reproduced there. This seems to suggest that the issue may be related to how Storyline’s published output interacts with browser/media caching when revisiting slides. However, many of our clients run the courses in their own LMS environments, where we cannot control server headers or cache behavior.
We have already submitted this through a support case and have also sent several follow-up emails with additional information, but we have not yet received a response by email. Since this is becoming quite urgent for us, we would really appreciate it if someone from Articulate could get back to us by email as soon as possible.
