Multiple Pre-Checks Followed by Mastery Test

We have a course with 3 Pre-check assessments to allow learners to "fast track" past content. Unfortunately if the learner passes any one of the 3 Pre-checks, the course is marked complete and they get 100%.

Is there any way to set the course up to track more than one Pre-check? In this example, the learner would need 100% in all 3 Pre-checks to avoid having to go through all the content.

  • There are a couple of options:

    • Put the questions from the three pre-tests into one big Pre-Check. Use the Results slide as the Pre-Check for tracking.

    or

    • Create a Results of Results slide that "scores" the Results slide of the three pre-tests. Use the Results of Results as the Pre-Check for tracking. [Note: I haven't tested this in an LMS/LRS. But Storyline lets me use these settings, so I'm assuming it will work.]

    For future reference:

A Results slide can be set to "score" the info from other Results slides.

A Results slide can be marked as a Knowledge Check (no tracking), a Pre-Check, or a Final Assessment.

When publishing for an LMS/LRS, if a tracked Pre-Check is passed, the course is marked as complete. Otherwise, the tracking will be based on the first Final Assessment that is completed.

  • And the answer is YES.  I pulled the variable from each of the four results slide to make a quick and dirty mockup before I added all the data.  NO, it is not pretty, but I wanted to make sure everything worked before I aligned and added images and all the fun stuff.   This is a GAME CHANGER.

  • For a Precheck with multiple topics (each topic has it's own results slide hidden in another scene), is it possible to break out each topic's results on the final Result slide?

Thanks for the reply Nedim. If we only use completion triggers, then the question level data won't be passed to the LMS. If we were doing an attestation only course, then this solution would definitely work.

Why not to use a completion trigger instead, where each "Precheck..." variable would be set to True if the score achieved is equal to 100? Something like:

  • There are a couple of options:

    • Put the questions from the three pre-tests into one big Pre-Check. Use the Results slide as the Pre-Check for tracking.

    or

    • Create a Results of Results slide that "scores" the Results slide of the three pre-tests. Use the Results of Results as the Pre-Check for tracking. [Note: I haven't tested this in an LMS/LRS. But Storyline lets me use these settings, so I'm assuming it will work.]
