No smart guides when aligning objects

Hi PIP,

Go to the View menu and select Grid and Guides:

then make sure that your "Display smart guides when shapes are aligned" and "Snap objects to other objects" options are checked.

For some reason the "Display smart guides" option made no difference to me whether it was checked or not (still got the guides). However, if I deselected the "Snap objects" option, I lost the guides altogether, even if the "Display smart guides" option was selected!!
