Pause AI voiceover when video selected

I have added a text to speech AI voiceover in throughout my storyline course and one page I have added a trigger to pause/stop the audio when the video is selected, but it continues to keep playing. Any ideas why this is or how I can resolve it please?

I couldn't find the right info on this article:

  • Hi SallyClay,

Thanks for sharing a copy of your project file.

Videos function on their own timeline, so you'll need to adjust your triggers slightly to get the interaction to work. I've linked an edited version of your course so that now when you click on the video (the actual video, as I've removed the video controls for this interaction), the background audio will pause before the video starts playing.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you, I have to add video controls in to support accessibility in my organisation, would this not work if they are added back in?

        Hi SallyClay,

There isn't a way to get the audio file to interact with the play button of the video control bar. I recommend adding a separate play/pause button for the audio file instead to prevent it from automatically playing at the start of the timeline. Note that for accessibility purposes, we also do not recommend auto-playing audio as this may tend to be disruptive to the learner experience.

  • Hi SallyClay,

    Happy to help!

We'll need to check your triggers to see why the audio isn't playing according to your design. Would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case for testing? We'll delete it afterwards!
