Poster Frame Image in Rise video
Hi Everyone,
I have a video which I have created/published from SL360, for the purposes of inserting into a Rise course (as a video in a Block (ie not a SL module insert)).
I am going round in circles - simply trying have the video image show before the learner clicks to play. (ie as opposed to a black frame).
I enabled Poster Frame Image when I created in SL, however, I saw this post re PFI not be enabled in Rise (https://community.articulate.com/discussions/rise/rise-video-poster-frame).
As an alternative I added a still image at the start of the timeline in SL and republished, but I just went from a black to a white set frame.
I am sure this must be a very simple thing, but I am stumped.
Thanks Christine

Wanted to share that while this isn't built into Rise, you can now easily drop in a custom thumbnail/poster image using the Mighty Chrome extension which sits on top of Rise and adds a lot of little features like this! Here is a quick video that shows you how it works. So simple 🙌

Based on info at https://mighty.maestrolearning.com/, the Chrome Extension referenced above is $337 per year.

I found the issue is Rise is converting the thumbnail into an indexed color mode (like a gif with limited color palette) so it looks pixelated and colors shift. Should be an easy fix for Rise. Thx JohnPinkster-19 here is the vid. Till then we have these workarounds that should be noted are not officially supported by Rise (yet).

Not much progress on this I see, Nearly 4 Years later! Is it really that difficult to implement?

I'm not sure anybody from Articualte reads these old threads, but +1 for me. It's so easy to implement.
Hi Tim!
Thanks for checking in on this!
I've included you in the feature report we are tracking, and will share updates if these enhancements make it to our Feature Roadmap.
Have a great rest of your week!

If you add a still image at the start of the timeline in SL, you need to disable the cover page image in the player, otherwise it won't work.

+1 to adding a poster frame selection feature. The lack of response on this simple feature is confusing.

A million + for this feature for uploadet videoes in Rise (Feature similar to Storylines "Set poster frame - upload image). We already use the feature in Vimeo for embeddet videoes in Rise. This would be a great time saver!

Just downloaded a trial today and this was the first thing that tripped me up in the first 15 minutes, 'mmmnn.... so yes +10 for a poster image facility. 3 years being requested with no explanation as to why it's not simple, if it isn't. Unsettling.
+1 to add poster frame feature for videos in rise.
