I'm glad to see DShaw was able to share this documentation with you. Charts, Excel spreadsheets, and other embedded files in PowerPoint aren’t imported into Storyline 360. I can understand how time consuming the current workaround is, and I've shared your feedback with our product team.

KellyAuner Thank you for sending this to your product team. It would be really helpful if the old method would work again, especially since copying and pasting the diagrams as svg-file in Storyline no longer allows for text or colour changes directly in Storyline.
