Question bank in Rise (or Articulate or ...)

I would like to test knowledge of learners on different aspects of a topic, namely 'testing'. Therefor I would like to create a question bank with different compartments corresponding to each aspect of testing. An example: topic 1: why should we test together?, topic 2: how do we organize ourselves?, and so on. Within each topic I want to present a subset of questions and to randomize these. A learner can only complete the quiz if the overall score, across all topics, is 80%. This will be a prerequisite to be able to register to a classroom training. My question: how can I compartiment a question bank with a selection of randomized questions within one topic, in order to present one single score after having finished all subtests? If it is not possible in Rise, what tool would you advise and how do I have to proceed?

  • Hello LieveLangie

I understand you want to create Question Banks with randomized questions and present a single score after completing all subtests.

I want to confirm that in Rise 360, only one quiz can be used for tracking purposes. You can have multiple quizzes in your course, but only one can be set as the primary tracking quiz. I recommend using Storyline 360 to accomplish your goal of having different topics and specific questions for each to achieve an overall score on all quizzes. Here's how:

    1. Create a Question Bank: In Storyline 360, question banks are containers for your question slides. You can shuffle these questions to ensure they appear randomly each time. Since you want different sections, you can create different question banks depending on the topic you'd like to cover.

    • Open your Storyline 360 project and go to the SLIDES tab on the ribbon.
    • Click on Question Banks and select Create New Question Bank.
    • Add your question slides to the bank.

    2. Draw Questions from the Bank: You can draw a random subset of questions from the bank for each subtest.

    • Select the scene in your course where you want to add a question draw.
    • Go to the SLIDES tab, click Question Banks, and choose New Draw from Question Bank.
    • Select your question bank and choose to draw questions randomly.
    • Specify the number of questions you want to include in each draw.

    3. Compile Scores: Storyline 360 allows you to compile scores from multiple quizzes or subtests into a single score, which can be displayed at the end of the course.

    • Add a Results Slide at the end of your course to display the compiled score. You'll want to select Combined Results to combine multiple quizzes into a final result slide.

As a reference, I'd like to share a quick visual of this in Storyline 360.
