Restore previous state when the user hovers out not working
I have created a drag and drop game in Storyline 360 where users drag items into the correct container. There is a Hint button that when hovered over shows a "Hint" state where the items still on the slide will glow and stop when hovering out. It is only working for 3 objects now (zombie, old boot, and battery) and I have tried previous work arounds I found in old Subs without success.
I have check the settings, the triggers, states, tried creating custom states and using those instead, deleting an object and starting from the beginning, and deleting states and creating them again.
I can not tell what is different between the objects it works on and the ones it does not. It will maintain the glowing even when the object is hovered over and should be showing a hover state and sometimes there is 2 states showing simultaneously (both Hover and Hint). This worked already in a previous version of the game and my Triggers are the same but are not working this time.
I have attached the slide with the issue. From what I can tell this is not the first time the issue has occurred with some discussions going back 9 years. I made sure I was updated to the most recent version too.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This option is still backwards. It's just an = vs !=. How hard can this be to fix?
Hello ID_Sam,
Thank you for checking in! We do not have any updates regarding this bug at this time. I have shared your voice with our engineers. We'll be sure to update this thread in the future with any news of a fix.

This is silly, but in case it helps anyone else, I was having the same issue and simply unchecked the restore to previous state check mark. It appears to be programmed backwards (at least in my case).

KellyAunerthis bug is still present in 2025. Your programmers have it backward so the functionality works only if you UNCHECK the option to restore to previous state. This is likely to continue causing frustration and should be an easy fix.
Hi AdamKupkaVCA!
Thank you for sharing the feedback! Sorry to hear you've also been affected by this behavior!
I see that you've connected with my colleague Lianne, through a support case. As she shared, we have this issue logged as a bug in Storyline 360. We've included your voice in the bug report so we can notify you as soon as a fix is in place.
Thank you for your patience. I'm sorry if this has been slowing you down!
