Returning to Rise from an external link
Hi,
I have a need to get the user to visit and external link (which I know how to set up) but I then need the user to return to the module. What address do I use for this and how do I test it? Do I use the address in the author setting? Will that still work once the course is in SCORM format? If not how do I navigate the user back to the module?
Or is it best to just have the external link be a pop up box that they can just close down?
Thank you

Hey Liz,
as far as I know you can´t do this with Rise. Once the learner clicks on an external link, a new tab opens in the browser. Then the learners have to close this new tab by themselves and return to the course tab. Your only option here would be to use the embed block (in the block library under multimedia) so the website is inside your course.
Maybe a hint that the link will open in a new tab and how to close this to returt to the course would be helpful for learners who are not that tech-savvy.

Thank you for that Susi, I think I'm just going to give some direction about closing the new browser and returning to the course where they left off. That will work ok I think.

I'm having an issue where the tab with the lesson closes itself when you open an external link - is there any way to keep that lesson tab from closing? (I had set the lesson be a pop up window in TalentLMS)
Hello Marketing PGA,
Happy to help!
It sounds like the behavior you're experiencing is LMS-related. Please test your course in SCORM Cloud to confirm if this is the case. You'll want to test which launch behavior works best for you.
If you can replicate the behavior in SCORM Cloud, please open a case with our support team here so we can check what's happening.

Tested in SCORM cloudLMS: Blackboard. Rise module hyperlinks open in a new tab but when closed it does not return to where the user was in the course. Course is closed (pop-ups are not blocked) Tested in SCORM cloud and similar behaviour
Thanks for opening a support case as well, Moraig. I'm glad to see that you've worked with my colleague, Lianne, and that you were able to resolve the issue on your own by changing your settings to Frameset. Nice work!
If you need help with anything else, please let us know here in the E-Learning Heroes Community or privately in a support case. We'll be happy to assist you.

Hi. The frameset suggestion appears to solve an issue I was having testing a Rise course in SCORM cloud, where after opening a resource from an external site (in 2nd tab) then closing the 2nd tab, the Rise course was not opening on the original tab. Setting SCO launch type and Player launch type both to Frameset overcomes the problem.
Now I need to explain to the company LMS team what settings are required to achieve the same resolution in SuccessFactors LMS (where the issue origianlly arose). Any suggestions? Can I just tell tehm they need to set "SCO launch type and Player launch type both to Frameset"?
Thanks
