Rise 360 - Amazon S3 video embedd controls missing?

Hey Y'all,

First time poster here. I have some questions about video controls for an embedded video in Rise 360 from an Amazon S3 bucket. I am using an iFrame code in Rise 360, using a 'Multimedia / Embedd ' type block. I'm linking directly to my web-ready mp4 video. Specifically, I am hoping someone has some insight into the following issues:

    • Video files are downloadable by default -  I want to disable that (screenshot attached)
    • The full-frame button is not working  (screenshot attached)
    • I'd like to disable playback speed (screenshot attached)
    • Can’t see any VTT / caption support for these embedded videos
    • Forward-seekable is enabled by default -  I want to disable that
    • The 'continue' block bar after the page doesn't recognize any video completion, and you can skip ahead without completing the video  (screenshot attached)

I don't have any of these issues using the 'Multimedia / Video ' block, and upload / include a video directly. Are there workarounds for these issues, or are these issues inhererit to S3 videos?

I"ll include screenshots for reference. Any help is greatly appreciated

  • Hello ezeringue! Welcome to the E-Learning Heroes Community! Happy to help!

When using the 'Multimedia / Video' block in Rise 360, the platform provides more integrated control over video features. However, due to the nature of iFrames and external hosting, there are some limitations when embedding videos via an iFrame from an Amazon S3 bucket.

    1. Disabling Video Download: Rise 360 prevents video downloads when using native Video blocks. When using an iFrame, you are tied to the settings in the source location.

    • Have you contacted AWS support about the settings you can modify for videos in your S3 bucket?

    2. Full-Frame Button Not Working: This might be related to the iFrame settings or browser compatibility. What browser are you currently using?

    • Ensure your iFrame code includes the `allowfullscreen` attribute, and check browser compatibility.

    3. Disabling Playback Speed: Video playback speed is a course-level setting in Rise 360 and is enabled by default.

    • You can turn off this feature by navigating to the course Theme> Navigation> and scrolling to the Video Playback Speed.

    4. VTT/Caption Support: I want to confirm that embedded videos using iFrames do not support VTT captions directly in Rise 360. You might need to consider alternative methods for captioning

    5. Disabling Forward-Seek: This feature is not directly adjustable in Rise 360 for embedded videos. To do this in an Embed block, you might need to look into custom video player settings or scripts. I want to confirm that you can disable forward-seeking in a Video block.

    • I'll open this question up to our fabulous community in case other community members have worked on something similar!

    6. Video Completion Recognition: To ensure the 'continue' block recognizes video completion, I recommend using Rise 360's native Video block instead of embedding from S3.

I hope this helps! Looking forward to hearing from you!
