Sharing and seeking: ideas for making videos more interactive

I’m working on a course that uses almost all video. The content’s good, but the client is asking for ideas for making it more interactive.

Someone sent me the 21 Jump Street movie site as an example. I know, right? I like how the trailer layered movie trivia questions over the video. I thought this would make a good example so I tried building it in SL.

This is what I put together: Elearning Quiz Demo

I’d also be interested in what you think the right number of questions per video might be. Most videos will be 1-2 minutes.

Thank you!

    HI all

I have created a video quiz with light boxes. It has been wonderful until i ran into a small problem: i cant get the result from the questions in light box.

I did exactly the same process of creating a result slide as instructed. However, it didnt show up the result in the result slide.

Could anyone help me please. Thanks in advance.

      Hello Phu!

Did you use Storyline's built in Quiz or Freeform slides? If you did, then you should be able to select the questions to track and score in your Results slide. Here's what mine looks like:

Do you want to attach your .story file so I can take a look at it?

Thanks! This is easy to fix:-)

You just need to select which quiz questions to Include in your results slide. There are checkboxes for each quiz in the Edit Results slide options. Just select each box to include the question in your results.

        Arghhh

I forgot to have these questions checked. Thank you so much for your time :D

  • Hi, Montse!

There is another way to add trackable quizzes, instead insterting quiz questions as individual slides as lightboxes?

Thanks in anticipation of a reply.

  • Hi,

Few links are not working now.

Any suggestions on how to make videos interactive in storyline 3.

I have videos created in Goanimate/Vyond - can I make them interactive by embedding in storyline.

    Regards

    Malvika

Hi Sanchit! This article shares some ideas (and examples!) on how to create interactive videos in Storyline. Although the title says 360, the ideas in the article also work for Storyline 3 (e.g. layers and hotspots). I believe you'll need to add the videos into Storyline to give you more control and to make them interactive. Hope that helps!
