Slide does not work correctly when replayed
Hello everyone,
unfortunately I keep having problems with Articulate Storyline when users re-watch slides and use a back button to do so.
In my current project I have an overview slide. The user is supposed to click on the various question marks and is then taken to an info slide. When the info slide has been played, a next button appears; this takes the user back to the overview slide.
Unfortunately, one of these slides (1.7, it is the question mark on the far left) no longer works when the slide is viewed a second time by the user. There is a special feature on this slide: there are two pink buttons, which must be clicked before the next button appears, which leads back to the overview slide. At the first attempt, everything works smoothly. Unfortunately, the next button no longer appears when the slide is viewed a second time. (You can access the slide a second time by clicking on the question mark again or via the back button on the overview slide).
I have already tried various settings, but unfortunately I cannot find the solution. I hope you can help me here.
Many thanks and best regards
Steffi

I took another look. I'm not seeing what you described.
When I tested the slide, the custom Next button wasn't visible right away.
The button only appeared after I clicked the two alarm buttons.
When I left the slide and returned to it, the slide started from the beginning with the Next button showing.
I tested that multiple times, and it worked the same way each time. As far as I can see, the issue is solved.
If it's still not working when you preview the file, I suggest you contact the support staff.

Your custom Next button has the Initial state of Hidden. The Slide Properties for revisiting are Reset to initial state. Thus, every time the user revisits the slide, that button will be Hidden.
The triggers that change it to Normal run when variables change. However, if a variable is already True, and a trigger changes it to True, Storyline doesn't count that as the variable changing, because nothing happens to the value. So those triggers don't rerun when the user revisits the slide.
There are a few things you could do:
Change the Slide Properties to Resume Saved State. This would keep the button in the Normal state. However, the timeline won't replay.
If you want the timeline to replay, do this:
- Change the Initial state of the button to Normal.
- Add this trigger:
Be sure the conditions are connected with "or" (not "and"). That means the trigger will run if either condition is met. But it won't run if both the variables = True.

Hello Judy,
Thank you very much for your feedback.
I have decided on the solution: “Reset to initial state” and have added the Tigger you suggested.
Now the next button appears on the slide, but not only when the two buttons on the slide are clicked (which should be a prerequisite for getting aheadand for the appearance of the Next-button), but it appears right at the beginning.I have also given both layers the status “Reset to initial state”.
According to the settings this should not happen. The Next button should only appear when the other two buttons have been clicked.
It would be great if you could take another look at this.
Many thanks for the great support.
