Slides are auto advancing without requiring the next button
This is my first project using Storyline and when I preview the scene I built, one it gets to the end of the timeline for each slide it auto advances to the next slide. I checked the player triggers and deleted the tirgger to move to the next slide once the timeline ends but it still advances when I preview it. I wasn't prepared to load the file yet to my LMS for testing. Any suggestions on settings I might be missing?
Is this just how preview works and it will translate fine into my LMS?
Hi Sylvia,
I wasn't able to open that project file unfortunately.
Since I can't open it a few other thoughts would include checking:
- Are all the objects set to be visible for the entire timeline?
- Are there any exit animations on the objects?
If you're still having difficulty, we'll want to have you import it into a new file as described here to see if that version can be uploaded here.

Ashley, I figured it out :). The powerpoint animations were still attached (I imported the file). Once I found out they were there (there were animation stars by the images that did not disappear when I deleted the triggers) and figured out how to get rid of them (click on the animation menu and select none) everything went away and I am starting with a clean set of images. SO, thanks sooo much for your help in working this through.
Sylvia
Sounds good Sylvia.
Awesome Sylvia and thanks for the update! Glad you were able to figure it all out and it was an easy fix.

Hello All - I am having this same issue. I have read though not only this string of replies but the others as well and I have found no solution. My imported PowerPoint is plain with no animations and my slide properties have all been set to "By User" (although I did not figure out how to set all slides at once) but in preview it still races through. This is my first one in Storyline but I have about 60 others ready to go. Any assistance would be great. I have opened a ticket and attached the file. Ticket 00783846

This trigger on the Master may be the culprit:

I imported a file from PPT and made sure all slides are set to "advance by user." Regardless, all the slides that were originally in PPT are advancing automatically. Any help greatly appreciated.

Go to Story View and select By User in the Slide Advances pane:
The neat thing about Story view is that you can select multiple slides and change them all at once.

Hi Walt. Thanks for the suggestion. I did that and still no luck. It seems like Storyline is holding on to the "auto advance" setting from the original PPT file, even though I have made sure the slides are all set to "Advance by user". Very frustrating :-(

I don't want to be disagreeable, but the picture is from the file you posted. and when I changed it for the first scene, they quit advancing. Be sure you select all the slides before changing them.

I should have been clearer. After your first post I went in and fixed the couple of slides I had missed. The buttons now sort of work. The Next button will work once the slide has reached the end of the timeline, and the Prev button doesn't seem to want to work at all.

Hi everyone,
I know this discussion is a bit old but I'm having the same issue. Is it possible to remove the auto advancing feature in Articulate Presenter, I don't have the Storyline.
Thanks,
Omar
