Storyline 360 - Unable to Open Story File

Hi there,

I have been trying to open some storyline files of courses I created in 2023 and when i try to open the files it is telling me 'This project is invalid or corrupt and cannot be opened. It may have been created in an earlier version of Storyline'.

I currently have installed 360 x64

One file is 190MB (i've attached) and the other one is 286MB (looks like the second one is to large to attached).

How do I open them to update them if I can't open them on my current version of articulate storyline 360?

    The support team couldn't fix the issue as they seemed to think the file was corrupt and sent me what files they could retrieve, but they weren't able to be put into a format that I could use without starting from scratch (thankful for the efforts though to try and find out why).

    I save a lot of my files on an external hard drive for backup purposes like this and I actually had to open the file in my external hard drive on my old laptop that I created the storyline file in originally and managed to open the three files somehow. 

    I think it was more luck with finding the original file that wasn't on my new computer and opening that way than anything else.

  • Hi MichelleMart355​ try rolling back to the oldest version of SL available

    If you successfully open the project, I would then progressively update Storyline, and keep opening and saving out the project and hopefully you can arrive at the current version with a working copy.

    Otherwise, get in touch with Articulate support, as they may be able to identify the specific issue and point you in the right direction in terms of a specific version to load. 2023 is quite old now, and there have been significant updates to SL which may have introduced breaking changes for older modules I'm guessing.
