Before you replied, I reviewed others who posted about "special characters." Their recommendation was to update to a different font. The one most noted was Arial.
With this slight tweak, the special characters are gone.
The project was built with Gill Sans MT. This font style is in your current list of available fonts. I'm not sure if this was an imported font for the original project or if it was in your original list of fonts as well. However, it is clear that the conversion "squeeze" from the early version to SL 360 was a little bumpy! ;-)

I'm glad to hear that the special characters are gone by changing the font to Arial! You did well with researching the solution, and I'm also happy that Steven was able to verify the fix.
