Storyline: Unselect checkbox when returning to baseslide

Hi everyone,

I would like to call upon your expertise for this situation to make sure I fix it in the best and most efficient way.

I have a base slide with a question en some checkboxes next to answers. (Just regular slides, not questionslides.

Once a learner has clicked a checkbox, a layer is show with feedback. The learner can click a button to close the layer and sees the base slide again. When the correct answer was clicked the 'next button' is visible. 

The issue here, is when the learner returns to the base slide after clicking a wrong answer, the checkbox is still selected and when he clicks it again to deselect it, the same layers opens again.

Can someone help on how to fix this?
