Table Formatting Issue

We are having an issue with faulty formatting on Storyline 360 tables. The tables worked fine when created originally, and they were created directly in Storyline (not exported from PowerPoint or anything like that). This issue has started in roughly the last year so it is likely to do with an update.

Things like text getting cut off, fonts shrinking, lines of the tables moving, as its not visible when working on the file, nor in the preview, only when published. Our courses have a lot of tables and we also highlight around text in tables a lot with a rectangle outline, so now with the tables changing, the rectangles are highlighting the wrong text.

We have been working around this on the tables that display the worst, by screen grabbing it and using the screen grab, moving the actual table off the slide to the side, so that we can use it once the issue is solved, as well as for alterations if tables need information in them updating. The screen grabs are of course a bit pixelated and not as crisp looking as the actual table would be, so we want to resolve this.

We are in contact with Articulate help, but are hoping someone from the community can shed some light here as we have not got to the bottom of it yet or to which update this happened on and how it can be fixed and when.

I've added below the difference between how a table and the spacing and size of text within it displays differently across the editor, preview and then when actually published and seen through an LMS (LearnUpon).

Editor Window

As you can see below the text within the table and the red highlighting shape box has been aligned and displays as we would like.  I have also included the tools ribbon showing the font and size in case helpful.

Preview

When run through the preview window the text has changed resulting in the red box no longer being aligned with the text.

Published

When published it shifts again as below?

Anyone had this issue with tables before? Perhaps there is a work around? Do we wait for a bug fix or is there a better way to work with tables and highlighting boxes?

TIA! Lisa

  • How frustrating! It looks like the paragraph spacing changes: expanded when previewed and condensed when published.

    Things to try:

As a workaround, put the text in text boxes or shapes. That content doesn't need to be in a table.

To add...the font we use is Open Sans and have always used that. There did not used to be any issue.
