Hello, I'm working on a project where it makes sense for me to copy and paste slides from one module to a different one frequently. The main reason is that I changed a lot of things on the layout for one of the modules and want to transfer that over to the other ones instead of redoing all of the slides, so I copy the slides from my "master" module and paste them on the module I'm working on. Then, when I delete the original slide from the module I'm working on, the tab open on the menu bar from my "master" module gets deleted as well. It's really frustrating to have to go back to Story View and find the next slide I need to copy over instead of being able to just click over to the next tab, especially with the number of slides I'm using. Does anyone have a solution to this? Let me know if I'm not making sense - it's a weird problem to explain. Thanks!

I know this thread is quite old, but sharing the workaround for anyone showing up late to the party...If you switch to STORYVIEW and delete the slide from there, your tabs remain intact at the top of the edit window.

Hi Amanda, I'm not sure I'm following - but if you're deleting the slides, I would also expect the tab you see when opening slides from story view to also be removed. Also, instead of copying and pasting slides from one file to another, we'd recommend following the method described here to import the slides.

Hi Ashley, Sorry, I'm not explaining very well. When I delete a slide, a tab also gets deleted. It's always the tab furthest to the right and it doesn't matter what slide I delete (whether it was from that module or not). I can't figure out how to do a screen recording within Storyline, so I took some screenshots to hopefully help me be a little more clear!

Hi Amanda, Thanks for the screenshots - it looks like the 3rd tab in is the one removed not the last one, as that's still listed as 5.5 Good Housekeeping. This is particularly odd behavior that I haven't seen before so I'd like to have you check into the following: What update of Storyline are you using? We're currently on update 5 Are you working on your project files as described here? Have you tried inserting the project into a new file as described here? Are you able to replicate this behavior on all your files? You may want to look into conducting the repair of Storyline as detailed here. Please let us know how it goes after checking into those items.

Hi Ashley, I tried all of your suggestions and it still isn't working. I looked at some older projects I've done and they are doing it as well. Is there anything else I can try? Thanks!

I was so looking forward to seeing a solution from a post 9 years old... but looks like its still happening... i wonder if any of those people trying to find an answer found it anywhere else yet?

Leslie, you are deleting slides from one scene... all 1.1, 1.2, etc. Try having slides from 1.2 and 2.2 open. then see if it behaves differently. this is what i am experiencing. Very frustrating!

I am unable to replicate the issue using the latest version of Storyline 3, Build 3.15.26825.0.

Just confirming this bug still exists in SL3 version 13.3.13.26122.0.

    I appreciate you writing out to me on this issue. However, the engineers haven't bothered solving it for 7 years. So, I'm not going to bother detailing the issue which has already been explained in detail within that thread.
    
    I wrote the comment for other forum users to know the issue still exists. Sorry, I don't mean to sound cold or rude. It's just the bug isn't that important. Just a little annoying for the user.

Hi there,

I'd like to add my voice (and vote) to getting this bothersome bug fixed. I too am doing a lot of copy/pasting and deleting of slides for my current project. My tabs kept disappearing (even though that slide wasn't deleted) and it was starting to really bug me to have to go back to story view each time and find my slide again in the project. Would love to see this fixed. I'm on update 10.

Hi Katie,

I don't yet have any additional information to share on this set up or issue. It is important to note that although it's troublesome to see happen, your slides and structure do remain intact. So although it's not ideal it shouldn't be causing other issues across your project file.

Following the thread in case there are any updates; I'm having the same issue with tabs closing themselves after a slide is deleted. And yes, I am running the latest update of SL2, am working locally, have reinstalled and repaired, etc etc.
