TalentLMS...any good?

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with TalentLMS?

Currently, we are looking to move to a LMS that has more flexibility and options.  Most of the popular LMS packages have the same features as TalentLMS but seem to cost twice as much. TalentLMS pricing is very attractive but... sometimes you get what you pay for.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

  • This is an old thread, but hopefully some people using TalentLMS are still around. :-D

I'm having an issue with the TalentLMS app and how the mobile player is displayed. The TalentLMS UX covers up the bottom of the course/player, so you can't see the prev/next buttons. I've contacted them and they say it is a SCORM/Storyline issue.

    Sound familiar to anyone else?

  • Hi Matthew,

    Thanks for your response!

    1. I did test it on SCORM Cloud and it works. But SCORM Cloud displays like a browser, opening in a new window. The LMS's app doesn't look like a browser, it is embedded within the app.
    2. I'm using the classic mobile player since I am using Storyline 3.
    3. The issue only occurs in the LMS's app, all browsers work fine. You can scroll the player in the app to see the buttons, but it isn't obvious enough and then my course gets cut off.

I have an update. I looked through all of my courses and this is only affecting the ones published after I upgraded to the latest build (March 5, 2019 - Build 3.6.18134.0). I am looking for a way to revert back to the previous build (August 16, 2018 - Build 3.5.16548.0) to test my theory.

  • Hi there,

Amanda were you able to fix the problem with Articulate support rolling back to the previous build?  I have a client that is having a similar problem.  We have sold this course about a dozen times in the last year and have not had any problems with it playing full screen with other LMSs.

This client uses TalentLMS and  reports this happening:

"When I start the course the viewing area on the browser screen is smaller than the size of the course content. I have to scroll right and down to see all of the content. I have plenty of white space around the window that should allow a full view of the course."

Please let me know if changing to a previous build fixed the problem for you.

    Thank you

      Hi Niomi,

Yes it did! And Articulate Support is currently looking into the issue.

I will send you any updates if I hear any.

        Thank you
We also found that through the clients TalentLMS settings, embedded did not
work but the pop up setting opened in a new browser and allowed him to
        resize the course.

      Hi Niomi,

Articulate fixed the issue! Update to the latest version released Sept 10 and republish. :-)

Um...this may not really be the answer but I'll mention it anyway!

So SL let's you specify a course player size on the design tab and when you upload to TalentLMS you can also specify a size. I've played with that to get my entire course into one window without having to deal with scrolling bars.

For what its worth...hope this helps!

      Hi Rick,

That is true and it works for viewing the course in a browser, but not in the TalentLMS mobile app. I tried that too. ;-)

I use the Modern template in TalentLMS and it seems to work real well without any scrolling bars. I should probably mention I use SL360. I had considered building separate courses for we and mobile but I'm a one person shop and there's only so many hours!

Not at my desk at the moment so sorry if this has already been suggested... Make or used a small course in SL3. Use the Modern Player. Upload to TalentLMS and switch to modern theme. Of course, this would change the theme site wide and current users would see the change. I have the luxury of not having any active users at the moment. Good luck!

Hi All, I have tried many learning management systems and can say with confidence that TalentLMS is the best for the price. Very powerful solution and if you know how you can customise it significantly to realise a polished user interface to meet your particular needs (i.e. custom URL, branding, custom home page, etc. etc.)

If anyone has specific questions or would like assistance happy to help.

    Thanks

    Rob
