Text Entry formatting issues when previewing a screen recording with text entry activities

Version: Articulate 360 3.86.32080.0

Hi, I am creating screen recordings and finding erratic formatting results when previewing scenes/slides in my text entry fields. These are the fields which are produced during a screen recording of a program where text is captured.

Scenario: User needs to enter a text string and press Enter on keyboard to advance to the next slide.

Result in 360: All looks fine. I format the Text Entry field with;

  • The depth is about 25px and 800px wide so plenty of space for a single line of text
  • a 1px border
  • set the font size to 10
  • default font is Open Sans (body)
  • vertical alignment for the box is middle
  • I have set my Margins to 0px especially top and bottom as they could mess up a long thin text box

So typing in the box in editing view is fine. I can see the text is crisp and displays well within the long thin text entry input field.

However, all goes wrong when I preview the slide or scene. Only the top half or the top 50% of the text displays in the text field. It is as though it has been sunken or pushed down that only the top half of the text is visible.

What I don't get is that all displays fine in editing view, but in Preview mode it all goes to pot. My colleagues are having similar issues with erratic text redering in preview mode. Can you please advise?

  • Hi NECS Learning!

    It sounds like the text entry font isn't rendering correctly when previewing your Storyline course. Sorry to hear that, but I'd be happy to assist!

    If you've confirmed that you are working locally, and a repair of your Storyline installation doesn't improve the behavior, would you be comfortable sharing a copy of your .story file for testing on our end? Feel free to upload it here in the discussion or privately through a support case. We'll let you know as soon as we receive it!
