Turn on/off (control) the checkmarks in the menu
Hi Tibor_Marte,
I appreciate you taking time to describe what you want to see in a future Storyline release. I informed our product team of your request and updated the feature report with all the details you've included.
We will let you know if there is any change in this direction. Please don't hesitate to reply back if you have additional questions or ideas. You may also reach out to us via a support case if you need more targeted help.
In the meantime, here are details on how we work to prioritize feature requests.
Has there been any solution to this?
The Menu checkmarks definitely adds confusion to learners. it's really a misleading to show checked mark when it only means "Viewed" and not completed. I'd rather not show check mark than to confuse learners if the slide has been completed or not, especially if it's an interactive slide.

Hi GeneSegador-bc4! You’re not alone. This comes up quite a bit.
In Storyline, the menu checkmark shows that a slide has been viewed, not completed. On interactive slides, that can feel misleading since the checkmark can appear before the learner finishes the activity.
Right now, there isn’t a built-in way to change that behavior or hide the checkmark on its own.
If you want more control, you could:
- Build a custom menu and track completion with variables and triggers
- Add a short note to explain that the checkmark means “viewed”
I agree this would be more helpful if it reflected completion. I’ll share this with our product team and update this discussion if it makes it onto our roadmap.
