Unexpected "Yes/No" Prompt in SCORM Output from Storyline 360
Problem
When publishing and uploading SCORM packages created in Articulate Storyline 360, some of my users are encountering an intermittent green "Yes/No" prompt appearing at the start of their course on my LMS. This prompt is not referenced in the project settings (As far as I can see) and seems to occur regardless of the content or structure of the course. It has been observed across multiple projects of mine (but not all), suggesting the issue is not tied to a specific interaction.
Whether I click "Yes" or "No," the project no longer works — unless I click "No," click to the "language selection" button (which takes you to a different slide), then close out. After that, the project works normally for everyone.
If I test the project in my browser, this never appears. But as soon as I upload it to a fresh course in my LMS, it shows up — so I can never reproduce it during testing.
I initially thought it was the resume functionality, but this looks different. Thoughts?
Hi BrittanyBilo497!
We appreciate you following up and sharing the additional insight!
Our support engineers conducted further testing, privately with PlusPortCT and confirmed this behavior is related to a bug in Storyline 360. This bug causes:
- When an LMS is configured to retain/reload resume data from a previous course version, relaunching the updated course produces an unresponsive player prompt - "Would you like to resume where you left off?"
I've included your voice in the bug report we are tracking, so we can notify you as soon as a fix is in place. In the meantime, as a workaround, we suggest downgrading to Storyline 360 version 3.99.34516.0 where this issue cannot be observed.
Thank you for your patience. I'm sorry if this has been slowing you down!

I am experiencing the same issue and it's difficult to pinpoint exactly what triggers it, as it's sometimes hard to reproduce. Here's an example of what happens:
When reopening an updated course, you receive the usual message:
However, after that, you receive this message:
I have never encountered this before. It seems to scale with the browser size. Clicking "Yes" or "No" doesn't result in any action, but the menu remains functional.
My colleague is also facing the same problem. Could this be related to the new Storyline update?
Please Articulate, fix this! I cannot update my courses now 😟
Hello BrittanyBilo497 and PlusPortCT,
The additional resume screen doesn't appear to be a part of the published content from Storyline 360, which could mean that it's a resume screen from your LMS. Have you tried testing in a different LMS like SCORM Cloud to see if the screen is LMS-specific? If the screen doesn't appear in SCORM Cloud, it means it can only be disabled from your LMS.
If the screen also appears in SCORM Cloud, please share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can check what's causing it to appear. We'll delete it when we're done testing!

Hi JoseTansengco, thank you for your response.
I did many tests today to check when the screen appears. It didn't appear in a new test folder I added today but it will appear when updating courses in older folders. So it probably has something to do with older saved progress? I've tried to reproduce in Scormcloud but I never saw it there :(
In the end I de-installed the last 2 updates of Storyline and that works for me. Not sure what I can do to test further..
(We are using our own LMS, PlusPort)
Hello PlusPortCT,
I see that you've opened a support case and you're working with our colleague Enelluar. You're in excellent hands!
We'll continue the conversation over in your case, so everything is in one spot.
Have a wonderful start to your week!

Hi PlusPortCT,
If you receive a solution through your support ticket, please let me know. I also noticed that the issue appeared in the last few updates. However, there was a problem a few updates ago that forced us to update, so I feel a bit stuck myself. We use a different LMS, so seeing the same issue across different LMSs makes me think it’s not on our end.
As you said, it’s hard to reproduce. I haven’t personally encountered a project with this issue since, although users are still reporting it intermittently on our side.

LucianaPiazza, JoseTansengco,
I believe I’ve figured out the issue — it seems the "Resume" slide from the Classic player is appearing in the Modern player for no reason.I was able to consistently reproduce the issue on my LMS (But not on Scorm Cloud). It seems to happen when re-uploading an updated version of a course. I believe the problem occurs because the previous 'save state' from the old version of the course is still being used.
For example, if you have two versions of the same course—one with a quiz and one without—you can reproduce the issue like this:
- Upload the version with the quiz and complete the quiz.
- Then re-upload the same course, but this time without the quiz.
The issue then appears. I'm sure this could also be triggered in other ways—like uploading a completely different course after launching the first one—so the specific quiz example may not matter. What’s important is that once you launch the first course and interact with it, then re-upload a new SCORM package to the same course, the issue occurs.
In the player settings, if you set it to "Prompt to resume" or "Always resume," the issue occurs. However, if you select "Never resume," the issue goes away.Hi BrittanyBilo497!

If you are publishing to SCORM v2004, you may also see this behavior. At least, that's what we found with a migration to SuccessFactors a couple years ago. The resolution was to republish to SCORM v1.2 and that seemed to be the fix. We ended up with one course module out of two dozen or so that simply continued to fail. (So we invested the effort to rebuild it.)
Apart from that, keep working with the support team.
