Video not playing during timeline preview?

Hi everyone,

I noticed the my videos are not playing when previewing my timeline.  This happens from the latest SL360 update.  Thoughts?

Debbie, I have no problems with your file on 1.2.  It didn't play in the time preview but play in the scene preview. It also played in Review360.  The only thing you might try is make sure your video drivers are up to date.

  • Hi Debbie,

Great question! I understand that your video isn't playing properly when previewing in the timeline. I’m happy to work with you to figure out why this is happening!  I have a few follow-up questions regarding the situation so I can understand what you are experiencing a little better.

    • Which version of Storyline are you using? I am using Storyline version 3.75.30269.0.
    • Is this happening with more than one file or is this the only one?
    • Have you tried importing your project into a new file? Sometimes that can solve some glitches within a file.

I’ve attached a Story file that I created in Storyline 360. The video is previewing in the timeline properly. Do you mind opening it into Storyline 360 on your end to see if you notice the same behavior?

Thanks for reaching out and I look forward to your response!

  • the problem has nothing to do with the video - slide 1.2 is damaged

if you copy the video from 1.2 to 1.4 there is no problem with the video

  • I am experiencing this issue, the video on the timeline does not play, but the audio plays, making it very difficult to adjust timing on the timeline. This is happening mainly with files created externally with Camtasia and screen recordings from iPhone. Is there any fix for this issue? Thanks for any insights.

      Hi DeborahAntoine,

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble with the video file in your Storyline project.

Would you be willing to share your Storyline file with us so we can examine the video file and determine whether re-encoding it will help? You may also share it privately by sending it along in a support case. We'll delete it when we're done testing.
