why is text and image causing slides to not play?
When i add text to a caption or text box, or copy a group comprised of a few objects onto another slide, the slides refuse to play -- both in the timeline and in preview mode. i've saved as another file, rebooted, etc, and nothing fixes it. what is going on? when the text and image elements are deleted, things work fine. I understand that the emphasis animation isn't working properly in your project file. Thanks for sharing a copy of your project file, I tested it and observed the same behavior. I was able to resolve it by recreating the group that you were trying to animate. Please take a look at Slide 1.2 of the this file where you'll see that the animation now works, even when a text box is present in the slide. I couldn't pinpoint an exact reason for why the animation initially did not work, but here are a few tips to minimize the risk of running into data corruption, if this played a factor in causing the animation to misbehave.
