Word Count in Published Word file
Hello Community!
I need to gather the word count for a Storyline course I'm creating. When I publish as a Word file, I'm able to get a total word count. Yet, is the count of my words in Notes, words on a slide or both?
Thank you for your help!

Update: I tried it and pretty good. My word export said 8287 and the HERO WORD Count software said 8611. Thanks so much for offering to share your download :)

Thank you Thor very grateful for the information and the update :)
I just opened it and it looks different from last week so I think i have the update. Since I don't search for an xliff file for the storyline file, am I uploading the source file or a published word file, just to be sure.
For RISE I have not had to do it before but I just looked not sure how you export the XLIFF file, I only see publishing for LMS, WEB or PDF and don't see an export/translation option. I am not overly techie, but can follow instructions well lol!
I am excited if I can do it for RISE as well :0
Thanks again

Hello Teresa -
Yes, you have the latest version so you're good to go there.
For Storyline courses, just tell HEROWORDCOUNT where your course (.story file) is located on your computer.
For Rise courses, do this to download the XLIFF file:
- Click on your course to open it.
- From the upper right-hand corner, click Settings.
- From Step 2, click EXPORT XLIFF FILE.
That's it - now in HEROWORDCOUNT just tell it where your XLIFF file downloaded to and you're good to go.
Just a quick note - Step 1 for Settings on the Rise 360 page indicates you should create a duplicate of your course. In this instance, it's not necessary as we're only using the XLIFF to get a word count.
I hope this helps and if you have any additional questions, please let me know.
