H1 text box linked with slide title
I learned something interesting. It isn't a perfect fix, but if you go the slide an put in the built in variable of %Project.SlideTitle% the text on the slide will automatically update to match your slide title.
Text entered on a slide in a Title placeholder will automatically appear in the Title field in the Scenes panel (which is what Storyline uses in the Menu).
It doesn't matter if text in a standard placeholder is H1 or not. That text won't be recognized as the Slide Title.
Bottom line: You need to use a Slide Master Layout that has a Title placeholder with the H1 style. Storyline 360: Using Slide Masters | Articulate - Community

That is a good way to get a regular placeholder to show the Slide Title. Not as good as having a Title placeholder, though.
To me, the big advantage of having a Title placeholder is that it's easier to type in that than it is to type in the Title field in the Scenes panel. Plus Storyline will indicate misspelled words typed into the placeholder. It won't mark misspelled words in the variable.

Totally agree! Not as good. But when you are remediating someone else's work and they didn't use the slide master and the link no longer exists between the title placeholder and the slide, this is one option. Unless someone has the magic for establishing a link.

I should say I did try the "Untitled Slide" thing and I couldn't get it work.
