Okay,

I"m missing the obvious here.  What is a lightbox and where is there a tuturial to show me how to use them?

Hi Ari! Here's one way that you can use a lightbox (it shows how to add a lightbox as a clickable tab on your player)... but you can also trigger a lightbox to appear from within any slide too. (Like if you wanted to create a button on your slide, which learners click to display specific content within a lightbox)

Storyline's default lightbox functionality will work for almost all your needs, but if you wanted to customize every aspect of your lightbox, you could build your own using slide layers.

The downside to doing it this way is that your lightbox is really a slide layer so it's tied to only one slide and would need to be re-built for other slides. That's the tradeoff, but it's good to know about one's options.

Jeanette (still weird saying my own name) - I love how we can create our own "resources"!  I used this in my current project,  however, I have a need to remove the "resources" from a menu slide and the only option I have to remove are the "standard" ones - Menu, Resources, Glossary, etc -  Is there a workaround? I dont see one :-(

Just like me to explain it clearly

1. I create new tabs for the player

2. I go to my first slide (which is basically my menu) and would like to remove the tabs I created from this slide.

3. So, I go to the slide properties, hoping to find the tabs I created there to de-select them, and alas, they are not there.

Normal 0 false false false oNotPromoteQF /> EN-US X-NONE X-NONE ontGrowAutofit />

Hope that's a better explanation

Hey everyone, I need some help.

I'm trying to use the lightbox feature, and having watched several videos above, it's still not working for me.

In scene 1, I have a slide (slide 1.5) that I won't to incorporate a lightbox from a hotspot. The designated slide I want to show as the "lightbox slide" is in scene 2 (slide 2.2).

These are settings I have currently:

Action: Lightbox Slide (navigation controls = not checked)

Slide: 2.2 ATL icon

When: User Clicks

Object: ATL icon: Rectangle Hotspot

Nothing in the conditions box.

Thanks,

Ryan

Hi, Paula -- Thanks for your question, and I see that Boris has stopped in to assist you here. Please let us know if you are all set, or if you still need help, it might be useful to share your file so others can see how things are currently set.

And in addition, as you had mentioned lightboxes, I thought you might also like to take a look at this article on Two Great Ways to Use the Lightbox Tool in Storyline for possible use in the future. :)

Hi all,

I have issues with my lightbox. I have a lightbox appear upon clicking object 1 but then when it closes and returns to the slide I have a trigger for object 2 to change state to hidden. My problem is object 2 won't hide and remains on the slide. What am I missing? I think the lightbox is  interfering with the trigger somehow :(

I set the state of the slide to reset and saved..it makes no difference what they are set to.

So folks I need your help - How can I get an object to hidden state after a lightbox is closed please????

Any help appreciated!!!

And Happy Saint Patrick's Day to you all!!!

My Irish luck is not working today it seems :(

Thank you!

I'm guessing the problem is that the "When" part of the trigger to hide object 2 is set to something that doesn't happen, or can't be noticed. Try using the same trigger that shows the lightbox to also set the state of object 2.  If the show action happens first, things will happen in the order you want.

Of course, without seeing the .story file, I'm just making a very wild (and likely not very useful) guess.
