I'm working on a new e-learning module that I created in ppt 2010 with Articulate '09. It doesn't have any Articulate elements yet - no interactions, no quizzes, no audio, no video, no annotations. So far it's just a pptx with text, a few pictures, a background photo, and formatted text placeholders. I tried to add an interaction and got the message "Your Articulate Presenter project cannot be upgraded to the new Articulate Presenter '13 file format." No explanation, nothing to click on for help. A little help here--What's the problem and how can I fix it?
More information: The pptx file was somehow originally saved on a network drive. I couldn't find a ppta file anywhere. I opened the pptx on a computer that hasn't been upgraded to '13 yet. It created a ppta file. I copied the file to my computer, but when I open the pptx file, it renames the ppta file -old and I still get the same cannot be upgraded message.
Got it. I tried renaming the files, that didn't work. I created a new pptx, copied all of the slides from the existing one to the new one with source formatting, saved it with a different name and am able to add an interaction.
Thanks for the update Alison! I thought your troubles were gone with Monday, but seems like you have a few quirky things going on. Hopefully starting a new file will resolve all of these issues.
Different project file, created in ppt 2010, Articulate '09, upgraded to Articulate '13, always stored on local drive, I click on the quiz slide to Edit in Quizmaker and it looks like it's unpacking, etc. Then I get the same "Presenter was unable to open project file" message.

And I come back in the morning, open the file that worked fine yesterday, go to the quiz slide, click on Edit in Quizmaker and get:
Presenter was unable to open project file.

Restarted my computer and I'm able to get into the first file.
Glad you are working again Alison! With all of these issues, I would try to do a repair and/or uninstall/re-install to see if this helps long term.
Hi Alison and Leslie.
i have Articulate Presenter 09 file, and i want convert in Articulate storyline. can you tell me how is it working??
Hi there Deeika,
If I'm understanding correctly, you'd like to use a Studio '09 project in a Storyline project. Is that correct?
Here are some resources that may help:
Making a Smooth Transition from Studio '09 to Storyline
Things to consider when importing PowerPoint into Storyline
I hope this helps!
