This is one of the questions asked in advance of the European Conference in Leeds - I am hoping that, by posting it here, we may get some more ideas for the participants to ponder over on the day. Also, apologies if these questions have already been answered elsewhere - the fault is entirely mine for not looking properly. Now the question and many thanks in advance to you all for your suggestions:
Is there a quick way of updating the Articulate slides after they have been published (i.e. without having to go back into the original PowerPoint and republish)?
You live, you learn. I had written to say you can't edit slide text as that was the case a while back, last time I checked (I know, a pretty long while back). Then I thought I'd check again and what do you know! presentation.xml which you can find after you have published your presentation with Articulate, has the slide text, notes text as well as its menu title, annotation parameters, duration and quite a bit more stored. Brill! But to come back to the question: the slide text is stored inside the SlideText tag... see attached screenshot until I work out how to include HTML text in this post

In the case of Engage, you can play with data.xml and change the text, the position of the Engage elements, etc. Not sure about Quizmaker - I haven't tried that yet.
However, one major thing to beware is starting to make changes outside of Articulate - should you ever need to go back to the originals for whatever reason, there will be a discrepancy between them and the post-edited published files that it's going to take time and serious organisation to pull off an update...
Depending on the type of edits you want/need to make you could include an html page as a web object and then just edit that. We do that with reference pages that link to policies, etc and are prone to frequent updates. Just change the html page and that automatically updates within the course.
Sometimes I will make the changes in PPT and preview that one slide. While I have the preview open I can go to C:\Users\James Kingsley\AppData\Local\Temp\Articulate\presenter\ (win7) or C:\temp\Articulate\presenter\ (xp) to grab the swf for that slide.

I have done the odd post publish edit of engages using the xml file.
You could also publish a single slide and swap out the swf in the data folder, if you need to change animations
