Quizmaker and Moodle - Grading Method

Mar 02, 2011

Hello,

I have created a Quiz Maker quiz and uploaded to Moodle.  I am stuck at a point where I don't know the best way to set the Grading method.  The user can only take the exam 1 time.  I am getting conflicting info on if I should set it as 'Learning Object' or 'Highest Grade'.

Any Moodlers out there that can point me in the right direction?

Cheers,

Dave

I never tested it with "Learning Objects", I always choose "Highest Grade".

Note: If you do so, Moodle do not use the points from Quizmaker. For example, if your quiz has 10 questions with 1 point for each question (=10 points at all), Moodle always changes it to 100 points.

But maybe I make something wrong :-(

Hey Christian,

Thanks for the input.  The 'points' issue you mention....is that in reference to 'Highest Grade' or 'Learning Objects'?

Hi Dave,

I always choosed "Passed/Failed" because I want that my students make the quiz at once. To be honest, I never tried out, what happens, when I choose "Passed/Incomplete".

The best way to find out what's bettter is to test it with a "test student". See the results and decide what's better for your needs.

Hello!
I have the same problems!

I did some tests with the same object and different settings. The results show that:

1) Whit method "LEARNING OBJECT", Moodle only registers 0 (= fail or incomplete) and 1 (= passed)

2) With method "HIGHEST GRADE", "100" :

2-a) if the quiz trace  PASSED / INCOMPLETED, Moodle record the percentage and the same value in the grade reports without the% sign. Furthermore, if the test is not passed or incomplete, will be marked in LMS with an orange circle (= not passed or incomplete), or with a green V (= passed).

2-b) if the quiz trace PASSED / FAILED, Moodle record the percentage and always returns the same value without the% sign in the column "grade". Unlike the above, if the user has not passed the test the LMS marks it whit a red X (= failed) otherwise the green V (= passed).

The problem is:

HOW TO COMMUNICATE TO MOODLE NOT ONLY THE PERCENTAGE BUT THE NUMBER OF CORRECT QUESTIONS IN THE COLUMN "GRADE" AND THE PERCENTAGE IN THE COLUMN "PERCENTAGE" ?

Thx

Alessandro

Hi Alessandro & welcome to Heroes,

The following article will show you which data is being sent to your LMS from Quizmaker quizzes:

http://www.articulate.com/support/quizmaker09/kb/?p=137

Please note that it is up to your LMS to determine how to process and display the data that is being sent to it.  Bear in mind that some LMS's may not be able to process the data the way that you are looking for.

Also, please be aware that SCORM 2004 provides more robust data for tracking and reporting than SCORM 1.2 or AICC.  If your LMS supports SCORM 2004, you may want to consider publishing your Articulate content for SCORM 2004 to see if this provides the tracking and reporting you desire from your LMS.  To learn more about SCORM, see:
