I've searched the forums and swear I figured out how to do this before, but...
How do you make a Result Slide so it is no longer hidden in the Menu... or maybe it is hidden by default for a good reason and I should leave well enough alone? I'm worried my learners aren't going to go to the result slide because they don't see it in the menu.
You can do this by clicking on "Player" and by opening the "Menu" section.
Once you're in the menu options, click on the button that looks like a small envelope labeled "Insert From Story". This will open a new window that will allow you to select the results slide. Once you've selected the slide, click on "Insert". From here you can position the slide by dragging it up or down in your menu, or by using the up and down arrows.
Thanks! That is perfect. Thanks for the screen illustration.
As to why it is hidden initially... I'm guessing that it is so that in some cases people don't click on the Result Slide before they take a quiz and freak out that they already failed?
There's probably a few reasons why it's not shown. One of them would be that instructors may want to limit how the learners access the results or limit how they access it. If the learner has completed the quiz and already seen the results, there's only a few reasons why the learner would need to end up there again. They'll be reviewing it, but they'll see it again in the end, or they've failed and need to retry it again.
Another reason may be that learners may try to bounce back and forth between the quiz and the results slide, trying to recall what their score was. People get anxious with tests, so it's a good idea to keep them focused :)
I'm sure there's other reasons, too, those are just a couple that come to mind.
Update: Via a discussion with support and from my own attempts I thought I should update this thread to let people know this is no longer possible in the most current version of Storyline. Even if you insert the slide in the way described above, it doesn't "stick".
I can create a new scene, and put the results slide in the new scene, but it still doesn't show. And then during Post-Quiz review the next button on the last question doesn't work (because the result slide is in the new scene).
Hmm - I wasn't aware of that. Thank you very much for sharing the update, though, this is good to know!
Curious - could you create an illusion of a results slide? By that I mean, could you create a new slide and add the elements of a results slide in that slide, as well as the triggers? If so, it should function similarly. If this slide is created from scratch, it should appear in the menu.
I'll have to take a look at both of these. If you get a chance, could you share the support case number, so I could take a peek at the discussion?
Thanks Will for sharing the case number here with us, and I do see where Regil reported this to our QA team for review. We'll continue to follow along so that we can update this thread as well.
Hi Team, any news on this issue? I too have a results slide that won't 'stick' in the menu, it's the final slide in my course, and I have removed the Success and Failure layers because my questions have unlimited attempts, forcing users to get 100%. It would be great to have an answer, as we include the final screen in our courses as best practice.
I don't have any updates to share on this issue but see it's still with our QA team for review. I'll be sure to include this thread in the report that we filed so that they're aware how many users are being impacted and so that we can include any updates or additional information here.
I found a work around where you create a dummy slide in front of your results slide and add a trigger to it to advance to your Results Slide when the timeline starts. This slide can be shown in the Menu and you can name it the Results Slide and your learners will be none the wiser.
Thanks for reaching out here. I checked into the issue, and it has been determined to be by design, as users shouldn't navigate to the results slide until they're ready to submit their results (which is the first trigger on the results slide typically). If you want to display a result slide in your course menu, do the following:

Sure thing! Happy to help :)

And I can't get this to work:

Thanks for your reply Christine. That is a good idea about creating a result slide from scratch. I'll try that. Here is the case #: 00400058

Hi Trish,
I don't have any updates to share on this issue but see it's still with our QA team for review. I'll be sure to include this thread in the report that we filed so that they're aware how many users are being impacted and so that we can include any updates or additional information here.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for sharing that workaround here and it's something I've seen other users mention as a workaround too.
Hi Ashley,
Any news on this? The Insert from story still does't work.

Thanks for the reply Ashley.
As Mark suggested, I created a dummy slide before the results slide and it worked fine. This way I can keep everything neat in one scene.
That's definitely another great workaround and glad it'll work for your situation.
six years later and this thread helped me. The dummy slide is good work around to make results slide "appear" in menu. Thanks!
No problem. I'm happy to help!
Thanks, Mark.
