Can we take the Rise content apart to completely integrate into our own LMS platform?

Dec 14, 2016

I would like to get the Staff's input on whether it is possible and allowed (in licence terms) to dissect the exported Rise content and then integrate parts of it into our own LMS?

Currently Rise content can either be open in a new window or embedded as part of an iframe. What we would like to do is to take the complete Rise course, split it into parts and then embed it into our own pages to get the native look and feel (serve it internally from our LMS).

A typical scenario would be:

  1. Create a new course in Rise
  2. Export it as HTML
  3. Import it into our own custom tool which will then dissect the content into separate HTML structure, JavaScript files and styling, and then rebuild it so it can be served natively from within our LMS, while keeping the original appearance and functionality.

For this to work, we would need to separate Javascript Rise player functionality, HTML structure and the content itself. Question is, is it allowed? And how often do you guys update the core javascript functionality?

Hi Ivan,

There are not restrictions within the Articulate 360 license or subscription (Articulate 360 Terms of Service here) that would limit how you'd use the published output, where it's deployed, etc. and individuals have always been able to make modifications to the published output - but that's not something that our team is able to offer support for. You can read a bit more about our support policy here.

We’re constantly updating our Javascript associated with runtimes, and any customizations you make to the Rise published output puts the courses at risk for not being able to utilize any updates and/or publish with new features.
