Creating a Launch Link for Tin Can Rise 360

May 06, 2019

I've read through the "Implementing Tin Can API..." post, and I'm trying to get a launch link so I can host the Rise outside of an LMS.

Basically, where and how do I include this information:

 http://my.lms.com/TCActivityProvider/story.html

?endpoint=http://my.lms.com/lrs/endpoint/

&auth=Basic OjFjMGY4NTYxNzUwOGI4YWY0NjFkNzU5MWUxMzE1ZGQ1

&actor={"name": ["First Last"], "mbox": ["mailto:firstlast@mycompany.com"]}

&activity_id=61XkSYC1ht2_course_id

&registration=760e3480-ba55-4991-94b0-01820dbd23a2

...

In the tincan.xml:
<launch lang="en-US">index.htmle</launch>

Do I create my own .url as described here: https://youtu.be/9as4WhAj5Y0 and replace it with something like:

<launch lang="en-US">https://cms.gavirtualschool.org/ProfessionalDev/Cassandra/badge101/index.html?=https://trial-lrs.yetanalytics.io/xapi/%26auth=

.... or something elseAny help here would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Cassandra,

Which LMS do you use?

If you are using an LMS, your LMS should do all that for you. If you need to do it yourself because your LMS doesn't support xAPI. You can generate the URL like you have done, and launch that in URL you confirm it is working fine.

Then, you can embed that link in HTML in your LMS like you add any links.

It would be best if your LMS can modify the name and email in the url based on the learner taking the course, so that you know who is taking the course. That will also help resume to work correctly if you have enabled the resume/bookmarking feature in Articulate.
