Customise the Blocks bar when adding content?

Oct 21, 2020

I'd love to be able to configure the icons on the blocks bar at the bottom of the rise window. From this list I'd rather Text inserted just text, not a text with heading. I'd remove process, flashcards, sorting and video and replace them with embed, block templates and various knowledge checks that I use all the time.

For instance, long-press on an icon then choose an action from the all-blocks feature; including my own defined block templates.

A better approach would be if Rise saw which blocks I regularly use and just added the common ones for me automatically. This way the bar would help rather than hinder.

No, not automatically. The interface should remain consistent, not rearrange itself based on use. Although being able customise the toolbar thing would be awesome.

It would be great if a long press (or double click) on an icon would immediately show the available options in its own little transparent window. I get sick of adding a text block just to have to remove a heading or whatever. To be able to add a specific block variation without opening the block library would be great.

I'd also like it if the toolbar thing would stick to the bottom of the window rather than the bottom of the course. I find it annoying that it isn't available when making additions to an existing course (unless of course, those additions are at the bottom of the page!). But I guess doing that would change the way it worked and positioning where new blocks should be added might be problematic.
