When a student correctly exits the course, their progress data related to their most recent session (e.g. Lesson completed and Quiz scores), will be sent to the LMS together with their location in the course.
When the student later resumes the course, their previous data should be loaded from the LMS back into the Rise course and the student will be returned to the start of the Lesson they were last in.
That is the theoretical aspect. There are many threads in these forums where people have reported that this does not always work as expected.
There are many LMS's on the market and they all work somewhat differently.
Following up on the reply- what is the difference between properly exiting the course and some other way? We are having individuals beta test our course and one response was that their course was not bookmarked upon reentry.
There are two ways a Rise course published for LMS, can be setup within a LMS:
The course is launched and runs within the LMS user interface (course appears in the same window as the LMS)
The course is launched from the LMS, but open in a new window. The window with the LMS remains open behind the course window.
Not all LMS's offer option 2.
In most cases, if you use option 2, you need to publish your Rise course with the Exit Course link enabled on the course export page.
If you use option 2, and close the window, the student data and bookmark information will most likely not be saved. This is considered an improper exit.
Students must use the "Exit Course" link for the student data and bookmark information to be saved.

Hi Laurel,
Bookmarking requires both Rise and the LMS.

For our LMS, it works just as I described above.

Each LMS has it's own set of quirks.
