Error when importing labels in Rise
Jun 12, 2019
Hi I'm working on a course with my SME. I have a Teams licence but he does not so I'm having to send a copy of the course when he needs to work on it.
The custom labels I've created don't export with the course, so I downloaded the .xlf file and sent that, but he said he got an error message when he tried to import it.
I checked, and I got an error message when reimporting the same file into my labels.
Here's what I did to export labels:
1. Go to Settings.
2. Select Labels
3. Clicked on the download arrow next to the labels I want to export and saved the .xlf file to my desktop.
3. clicked "Upload from XLIFF"
4.found the file, clicked "open". File starts to upload, then get this message
Error: Incompatible format
Settings
Labels
Clicked on the download arrow next to the labels I want to export and saved the .xlf file to my desktop
Gone back to settings
Labels
clicked "Upload from XLIFF"
found the file, clicked "open"
File starts to upload, then get this message
Error: Incompatible format and only option is to Cancel
Have tried this on a couple of different laptops as well as renaming the file, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas as to why I can't export / import these label sets?

I've worked out what the issue is. I had an ampersand (&) in the label name. I've renamed the labels and they now work.
fantastic troubleshooting, Nicola! Thanks for letting us know how you solved it!
