HELP - Attachment Confusion

Feb 06, 2021

Help!

I have a project that contains attachments sprinkled throughout the module.

It works, but when learners click to open it, it opens in the same working window.  Once the download or print the document, there doesn't seem to be a way to jump back to where they were within the module.

Most hit the back arrow on the window, but it takes them back to the beginning of the chapter.

Is there a way to set it up such that the downloads open in a separate window?  That way they can just x out of it when they want to go back to the where they were in the module.

Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

Hello, Lance!

Typically your web browser will determine how PDF documents are handled. For example, Chrome has a Privacy & Security setting that allows you to download PDF documents rather than open them in the browser itself (shown below).

Do you find that the behavior is different depending on the browser you're using?

Thank you.  The download is working great.  However, there is no indication how to close the attachment screen (not the PDF but the screen used for the download).

The only option seems to be to use the browser's back button, but that seems less effective than if the downloads happen within a new browser window.  That way  it could be closed when finished and the learner be exactly where they left off.  The back button takes them to the top of the chapter they left, which can be confusing if there are several downloadables in the chapter.

Am I missing something?
