I'm building a course to teach users about an online storage solution, but part of the process is sending our clients an email to advise them that we will be inviting them to share a folder with us.
We have written a template email for them and saved it as an .oft file, but I cannot see a function to attach this to a Rise course.
I can't see how to make that work - I created a button but it only gives me limited options, such as "Link to URL" and "send an email" - however the second option only generates a blank email to whichever email address you specify.
Any file type should work in an attachment block, so I'm sorry this one is giving you trouble! Would you mind sending the .otf file to us in a case here? We'd like to test it on our end.
In the meantime, do you see a difference if you zip the .otf file before adding it to the attachment block?
Hi Jill! Tell us more about what you're looking to do. Are you trying to add a button or link in your course that will open a pre-filled and pre-addressed email message?
Hi there, Jill. I'll document that this file extension isn't accepted in the attachment block. In the meantime, zipping it would be the only workaround I'm aware of!
We'll let you know if this changes. Quick note - when you reply via email, it includes your email signature with contact information in the public discussion. You can edit it out of the post here if you wish!

You should be able to attach to a button, may need to be zipped if the file type is not recognised.

Hi there, Alan. Can you use a multimedia file attachment block? Your learners will be able to download your attachments right from the course.
That is what I meant, I should post early in the morning ;-)
I never doubted you, Phil! 😆
Hi,
Thanks for the replies and apologies for not coming back sooner - however whenever I try to use the method you suggest it does not work.
I have attached an image of the result.
Does it not recognise .oft as a valid file type?

That looks like you are pasting the content of the file rather than the url/l;ocation of the file
Hi Alyssa,
I clicked on the link you provided, however was told the link no longer exists!
Phil - definitely did not paste the content of the file, uploaded as an attachment.
I have since zipped the file and it seems I can successfully upload it that way, so thank you all for your help!
Hi Alan!
So sorry about that! Here is the correct link to open a case. Let us know if you need any more help with this!
Isn't there a way to do this without having to ZIP the file yet?

Thanks. I wanted to add the .oft file as a download in our RISE course. Currently says Error. It only allows me to add it when I zip it.
