RISE Embed Videos (Android Issues)
Feb 04, 2020
Hi,
We have been using Rise on a lot of content and have not had any issues with embedding videos in the content.
But, there is an issue now, specifically with the latest security update to Android devices.
Android requires embed codes to be served by a secure site with https.
Rise uses embedly as a link wrapper to provide embed codes from whatever service you are using to host your videos (Wistia, etc....)
The only issue with this is that the wrapper embedly puts on the embed code goes through an unsecured link with just http.
With this in mind, that means that all of the videos that were working fine as embedded videos will no longer run on Android devices with the latest security patch.
Please see the error message below:
The webpage at http://cdn.embedly.com/widgets/media.html?src=https%3A%2F%2Ffast.wistia.net%2Fembed%2Fiframe%2F50u8vtfhxk&display_name=Wistia%2C+Inc.&url=https%3A%2F%2Ffast.wistia.net%2Fembed%2Fiframe%2F50u8vtfhxk&image=https%3A%2F%2Fembed-ssl.wistia.com%2Fdeliveries%2F28fe1b714bc63581d04217e9195757fe.jpg%3Fimage_crop_resized%3D960x540&key=40cb30655a7f4a46adaaf18efb05db21&type=text%2Fhtml&schema=wistia could not be loaded because:
net::ERR_CLEARTEXT_NOT_PERMITTED
Does anyone know of a solution to this, or if the embedly site has a secure service?

Hi there, Daniel. I'm seeing the HTTPS protocol on Embedly supported content in my Rise 360 lesson when I inspect my course in Chrome. We also require HTTPS on embedded content.
Would you be able to privately share your course and embed URL with us for a closer look?
Hi Crystal,
Sorry for the late reply. We have it fixed.
It was actually due to a software upgrade in our LMS.
Thanks
Glad to hear it, Daniel! Thanks for the update!
