RISE question
Apr 26, 2017
Hi I am using RISE for the first time to develop a course. It is really good. just a couple of questions, how can do a voice over on some of the lessons? There is a button which says record audio but only allows me to import audio file. I want to record using my mic. Also can i get access to the content library as in storyline 360 for photos and characters? Many thanks.
Kind Regards
Naeem

Hey there, Naeem. Congrats on starting your first Rise course!
If you want to add a voice over, a Blocks lesson would be the perfect candidate. Have you tried using your mic to record narration in an Audio block beneath your content? You mentioned it only allows you to import an audio file. Can you send me a Peek of what happens when you click 'Start Recording'?
Content library characters are for use in Storyline and Studio 360, and we're aiming for integration of the stock images with Rise to be available within the next couple of months. Stay tuned! You can keep up with all the latest updates right here.
Hi Alyssa
Thank you for your message. I don't get the 'start recording' option when i use the audio block. i only get the upload option.
Am i doing something wrong?
Hm, that's interesting. We're going to take a closer look at this. I've opened a support case for you (01063802), and someone from the team will be in touch shortly!
Hi Alysaa
I have managed to sort it out! I was using the safari browser, if I develop the module in chrome the start recording button appears! Thanks so much for your help. I think we can cancel the support case.
Kind Regards
Naeem
Thanks Naeem - I'll make a note for our team!
Hi Naeem,
I wanted to pass along an update! Safari does not support audio recording within the browser, so the 'Start Recording' feature is only available in Firefox and Chrome.
I get the start recording button, but when I try to preview the lesson, there is no sound.
Hi Julie,
What browser are you using to author content in Rise? I tested this out in Chrome and was able to record audio and hear the play back upon preview.
Hi Julie,
Sorry you're getting stuck! What web browser are you using to create your Rise course? Are you using an external microphone while recording audio?
Hi there, i'm new to Rise. I'm using Chrome, I see the "Start Recording" button and looks like I should be able click to start recording with my mic, but when I do nothing happens.
Finally got the recording functioning, but something is still wrong. The audio is echo'y and jittery, not sure how else to describe it. Seems to be a delay.
Hi there Robert! Sorry you're having a tough time recording audio. I'm happy to help you sort this out, and I have a few questions to start:
Quick question about the original post. If you add the audio block below you content, is there a way for the audio to be layered, so it can play at the same time without scrolling down to click on the audio? Kind of like an option for audio if you want to listen instead of read.
Hi Jenny,
Learners will need to choose to play the audio, and so if it's below your content, they'll need to scroll through it. Also, once you click to play the audio, the learner can navigate beyond it and interact with other elements of the course and the audio will keep playing. It will stop once they choose to play another media item.
Thanks for your response. I was hoping there were more options similar to the audio being in the labeled graphic. Maybe something in the future!
