Storyline block in Rise
Dec 10, 2019
I created an interaction in Storyline which required several slides. When I add it to a Rise course with the SL block the user is able to complete the interaction. However, after they complete the interaction the only way they can continue through the Rise course is to click the Rise tab at the top of their Chrome screen. How do I get the SL block to go back to Rise once the interaction is complete?
Thank you

If you insert a Storyline 360 block into a Rise Course, interacting or using that SL block should all happen within the Rise course itself.
So I don't understand what is happening in your case where you say: "How do I get the SL block to go back to Rise once the interaction is complete?"

Hi Faye!
It looks like you hyperlinked a button to open the Storyline content in Review 360. However, did you know you can embed the Storyline slides directly in Rise 360 using a Storyline Block?
In your Rise 360 lesson, click Interactive in the block library. Scroll down to the bottom, then click the Storyline block.
Then you'll see a window that will allow you to choose the Storyline content to embed directly in the lesson. Let me know how that goes!
I have used the Story Line block but in this case I need to create another interaction for a different team. Kind of like branching. So that is why I chose the buttons.
Is there a way to get the SL file to direct them back to the Rise module or close?
Otherwise I think my option is to build the branching in the SL module and then add the SL block with in Rise, Correct?
thanks for your help!
Thanks for those details, Faye!
There isn't a way to direct the learner back to the Rise 360 tab from the Storyline 360 tab. The learner will have to manually close the tab and go back to the Rise 360 course.
I like your idea to build the branching inside the Storyline module! Let us know if you need any help along the way.
Thank you for your help!
Maybe add a trigger enhancement to be able to direct learners to the Rise course. Or to close the SL interaction all together which would automatically take them back to the Rise course.
Happy to help, Faye! And thanks for your feature idea. 😁
Here's what I'd do:
Here's an example of how it could look.
Thanks Tom. I'm not really good with layers and triggers. Was introducted to all the Articulate programs May 1. Thought the buttons in Rise would be easier for me but I will give it a try....!
Another option is to try and build that in the Scenario block in Rise. The structure is a little different but I think you could do something really nice with the scenario block.
I started with the scenario block and couldn't do it. The triggers and SL were actually easier.
Alyssa - I have a Storyline block inserted as an Interactive in my Rise course but the block only works in tablet or PC mode. The audio does not play in either of the mobile previews. Is the issue in the Rise setting or the Storyline settings?
Thanks
Hi Rob!
The mobile preview won't show the Storyline block. Instead, test the Storyline block by opening the Share link on your mobile device. Let me know if that works!
I think that's what I did. I sent a Share link to the client. The Storyline block would only play in a Chrome browser.
When I opened the course from my phone using the Share link I get the same result - the audio from the Storyline block doesn't play.
Thanks, Rob. Would you mind sending that Share link to our team for testing? If that works for you, you can open a case here.
sure - just sent the case with links to two courses. Both have the Storyline blocks. When viewed by phone, neither one plays the audio track.
Thanks, Rob! Your case is in the right place. You'll hear back from our team shortly!
